Ancient royal city
Here is a quick introduction to the city of Luang Prabang and what you need to know about this beautiful World Heritage Town. The colors are what people notice first : white frangipani blossoms with their pleasant perfume, scarlet flowers of the pepper trees, the burnt sienna robes of the monks during the morning charity, and the glittering golden roofs of the city temples.
Luang Prabang is surrounded by green mountains, 400m above the sea level, at the confluence of the Nam Khan and Mekong River.
The city and its french architectural houses became one of the most famous "places to be" if you visit Laos.

High place of Buddhism
The city also embodies one of the strong symbols of Buddhism in Asia. Its spiritual and mystical atmosphere is maintained by the monks that we meet at any time or by the daily ceremonies such as alms to bonzes being practiced every morning.
At sunrise, the monks walk in saffron long lines in the still cool city, the alms bowl in their hands. Kneeling in front of their house, the inhabitants give them offerings (tak beats), especially food.
